Introduction to digital camera and analog camera

Cameras can generally be divided into two types: one is a digital camera, which can be used independently with a microcomputer, which is simpler and belongs to the household level. The other is an analog camera that is used in conjunction with a video capture card. The loaded processing circuit is industrial grade.

Digital camera

The digital camera is a digital video input device that uses optoelectronic technology to capture images, instead of first acquiring images with an analog acquisition tool like a video capture card, and then inputting the image through a dedicated analog-to-digital conversion component. The advantage of the digital camera is that it is easy to use and generally connected through a parallel communication port of the microcomputer or USB. It is plug and play and easy to install. Especially suitable for laptops and branded desktop computers that cannot open the case. The overall price is often cheaper than buying the same grade camera and capture card.

However, the shortcomings of digital cameras are also obvious. Due to the use of CMOS as a light-sensing device, the capture speed is not very fast (less than 30 frames) above 640*480. Most of the cameras on the market now have a resolution of around 640x480, which is typically 30 frames per second at 352x288. The price of digital cameras is also relatively cheap, generally positioned below 1,000 yuan, which can be accepted by the public.

Analog camera

Most of the analog cameras are CCD, and the resolution is different according to different grades. For example, an analog camera of the same level as a digital camera is generally used for industrial purposes, has high resolution, good real-time performance, and low resolution. To work with a computer, an analog camera requires a video capture card or an external capture card. Video capture card grades are very large, ranging from a few hundred dollars to tens of thousands of dollars. Expensive video capture cards often have real-time video compression for professional use.
